Adrenaline rush In The Poconos

If you are an active person, going on vacation shouldn’t require you to abandon the effort of exercising and eating healthily. It is an excellent opportunity to experiment with different things and try a range of activities that can enhance your vacation with fun and adrenaline.

Imagine waking up early and going for a hike, starting the day with a fantastic view. Some researchers have found that interacting with nature or seeing natural landscapes help relieve stress.

In the region of the Pocono Mountains, you will have plenty to see. From majestic peaks, woodlands to waterfalls.

Here in The Poconos, you have a wide variety of sports and activities to do, either that you prefer something soothing or energizing.

Adventure sports: For those seeking new challenges and adrenaline rushing

Unlike traditional sports, adventure sports come with many uncontrollable factors like mountains, snow, water, wind conditions and many more factors depending upon the type of sport, giving thrills and excitement to both spectators and participants.

The Poconos Mountains is the right place to complete your summer vacation with new experiences. You can practice kayaking, rafting, sailing, and canoeing.

Canoeing and Kayaking:

Both activities are pretty common here in the Poconos. If you want to get away for a few hours or embark on a full-day adventure, there’s something for everyone.

The Northern section of the Lehigh River is ideal for finding a big adventure for those kayakers with more experience because it requires finely honed paddling skills as you will encounter several rapids.

If you seek a beginner adventure, the Southern section of the Lehigh River is perfect for leisure canoeing.

Sailing:

Did you know? Sailing improves your agility, coordination, and flexibility. Activities like pulling lines and moving around while keeping yourself stable on a moving boat can boost your motor skills and hand-eye coordination.

You can enjoy private sailing lessons at the Lake Naomi Club and other sailing programs offered throughout the summer. The programs are available for different ages, from 8-year-old children to adults. If you are an adult and don’t have experience sailing, don’t worry, classes are offered for beginners and advanced beginners.

Relaxing activities: Because a calm mind will always bring a bright outcome.

Usually, what first comes to mind when hearing “relaxing activities” is yoga. However, many doctors believe that other sports like hiking, swimming, running or biking are also relaxing activities and beneficial for your mental well-being. This type of sport increases your endorphin levels and works perfectly as a stress reliever.

Hiking:

Enjoy the beautiful Pocono Mountains’ 2,400 square miles of outdoors during summer. Hiking trails in state parks lead to breathtaking views and waterfalls, old-growth forests, and wildlife sightings.

If you are an amateur hiker or eager to try it for the first time, don’t worry; you can find trails with an easy level of difficulty. Perfect for beginners and for those who want something more scenic and leisurely.

For those with more experience or looking for something more challenging, there are also more demanding trails. However, remember to be prepared, use the right equipment and gear, always take a first aid kit with you, a charged phone, water, plenty of food, a map, and a headlamp if you need it.

Running:

Running can be an intimidating activity, especially if you don’t do it often. Being surrounded by nature and close to the lake might be reason enough to start practicing your running. Don’t you think?

If you need more reasons to start jogging than burning calories, remember that it also helps strengthen your joints and muscles and reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease.

If you are in good shape and used to running every day, summer might be the best time to challenge yourself and be part of the Poconos Triathlon Festival that runs from June 11th to June 13th and takes place at the Lake Wallenpaupack. You’ll have a wonderful weekend of running and fantastic post-race events.
